About Us

Comfort in Stitches is a nonprofit driven by a
heartfelt mission. Our founder,
Riyaben Bhakta, a
passionate crocheter with a deep love for crafting,
envisioned a world where everyone, no matter the
circumstances, could experience the warmth of a
handmade stuffed animal while also understanding
that there is somebody who cares about them and is
there for them. Inspired by her own experiences and
the profound impact that supporting words and a
simple stuffed animal brings, she established this
nonprofit to bring smiles and solace to those in
need.

Our Mission

Comfort in Stitches is a nonprofit that is
dedicated to giving back to our community
through the art of crocheting. Our Comfort
Boxes, which are what we donate, aim to
bring warmth and joy to individuals facing
challenges, brightening their lives as much
as possible. Each stitch, crafted with care
impossible to replicate by machine,
symbolizes our commitment to spreading
hope, healing, and love. One stitch at a time,
we foster a sense of connection and support
for those in need.
Through our work, we are
determined to leave a positive impact in many
lives.

A Comfort Box Includes...

A letter of encouragement

a handwritten letter that
is meant to uplift and
inspire the recipient. Each
letter contains words of
support, motivation, and
reassurance, written with
genuine care and
thoughtfulness.

A crocheted animal + animal card

A special crocheted stuffed animal
designed to bring comfort and
cheerfulness. Each handcrafted piece is
a symbol of our personal desire to
appreciate each receiver and remind
them that they are truly valued and
never alone.
The stuffed animal comes
with a mini card that explains what trait
that animal represents and a quote
explaining the trait.

A flower

An undying flower with the
intent to remind those of
their own everlasting
beauty inside and out while
also symbolizing hope. The
flower embodies the
message of care, providing
emotional comfort and a
sense of connection.

Creating our comfort boxes takes
several different parts. The
handwritten letters, crocheted
stuffed animals, and overall
assembling of each box takes a
selfless dedication of time. If any of
these actions are of interest to you,
get involved to start making a
difference. For the application link,
click the underlined "Volunteering".

Comfort boxes require various
items to be complete. Among
these supplies are yarn and
filling for the crocheted
animals, cardstock for the
letters, flowers, boxes,
stickers, etc. with this being
said, monetary donations are
appreciated. For the donation
